In 2004, business leaders in North Fulton decided to form a Community Improvement District to advance the concept for a Westside Parkway extension, improving the connection between Roswell and Alpharetta. The North Fulton CID began purchasing specific right-of-way land in anticipation of expanding the 4-lane Westside Parkway southward across Mansell Road. The project focused on a 1.2-mile section of Westside Parkway, expanding from two lanes to four.
A major component of the project was the replacement of the Foe Killer Creek Bridge at the intersection of Old Roswell Rd. and Rock Mill Rd. /Westside Parkway. This three-way turn has since been replaced with a new, 6-lan bridge, including dedicated turn lanes.
The full project, including a new Mansell/Westside interchange and the Foe Killer Creek bridge, will be ready in Spring 2010.
