Aerial Transit Study
Start Date: 2008
Completion Date: 2008
The North Fulton Community Improvement District (CID) has studied multiple transportation options to benefit the area. One study looked at the feasibility and benefits involved with an aerial overhead transit system – a tram that would lift riders up and over roads and buildings to reach their destination. The CID commissioned the aerial transit study to determine if this type of transit is feasible in the Georgia 400 corridor.
While the aerial trams are capable of moving a significant number of passengers, a major investment study would be needed to provide more specific information on aerial transit system ridership and costs. The overall speed of the aerial trams would be a challenge to make this system viable.
